Sat June 24 PSC Swank Night Join us in the evening (7-ish) at the  Drake Hotel Oak Brook for a swanky night out for music and drinks. Channel your inner Cary Grant or Audrey Hepburn ! We are going to settle into the leather chairs of the Drake's elegant Polo Lounge and listen and dance to Pop and Jazz, have a few classic cocktails and hors d‘oeuvres, and be the coolest people in the joint!  Black Tie requested or Cocktail Attire. Thurs July 6, PSC Meeting 7:30 pm at Emmett’s Ale House, 5200 Main Street in Downers Grove.  This will be the only meeting for July.  Come early to get a good seat and don’t forget, pitchers of beer are ½ price in our meeting room.

Fri July 14, First Folio “As You Like It” by William Shakespeare, Mayslake Peabody Estates outdoor theater at 8:15pm, preview night $ 23.00 pp.  Gates open at 6:45pm so you have plenty of time to picnic before the show. Bring your own lawn chair or blanket or rent a chair for $ 2 each at the concession stand where you can purchase snacks, water, etc..  Bring your own picnic or order a Standard Market Boxed Supper $ 16.00 each, to pick up when you arrive, call at least 48 hours in advance 630-986-8067. Tues July 18, Downers Grove Concert in the Park (Behind Emmett’s) 7pm Downers Grove Concert in the Park (Behind Emmett’s) It’s Free! Libido Funk Circus (70’s, 80’s 90’s rock) concert.  Bring your lawn chair or blanket and outside food and/or outside non-alcoholic beverages.  Food, beer and wine is also available for purchase in the park.  Look for your PSC friends to the right of center as you face the stage. Concerts start at 7pm.

 

Sat July 29,  Cubs game, bus trip to Milwaukee and tailgate. Leave Suburbanite about 1:30pm for 6:10pm game.  $ 72/members, $ 75./non-members.

Sun Aug. 6, PSC's Annual Picnic Noon-7:00 at Veteran Woods in Bolingbrook/Romeoville. Sign up for trips will start at 1pm. To help offset the costs, we will be having prize raffles at the picnic. So when you pack your checkbook for trip sign-up, also pack some extra cash to purchase raffle tickets: 1 for $1.00 or 6 for $5.00. We will have gift baskets, discounts towards trips, gift certificates, and more. At the picnic, you will be able to sign up for ski trips and renew your memberships. We also have volleyball, bags, and other games. PSC provides refreshments (beer, wine, pop, water, main course) plates, utensils, condiments, etc. Dinner served  2:30pm  YOU provide a dish to pass. In an attempt to avoid 115 plates of cookies… let’s use this as our guideline:

                               A-G, Side Dish   H-R, Dessert   S-Z, Appetizer

Sat Aug 12, Bill and Ted's Excellent Kayak Adventure  9am   Paddle the Salt Creek from Graue Mill to Riverside. This is a 4-5 hour intermediate level trip. Midway through, we will enjoy a hydration stop with Bill and Ted's Excellent Refreshments and Snacks. If you wish to participate in Bill and Ted's Excellent

 

Refreshments, there will be a nominal $10 fee. Please sign up in advance for this option. We will meet in the Graue Mill parking lot on the east side of 3800 York Rd in Oak Brook at 9:00 am. We will need four individuals to park their cars in the Plank Road Meadow Boat Launch parking lot at 8350 Ogden Ave in Riverside, to shuttle the successful paddlers back to Graue Mill. We will depart at 10:00 am, and expect to finish between 2:00 pm and 3:00 pm. After the trip, we will congregate at York Tavern, 3702 York Rd in Oak Brook, for "Boat Stories" and additional refreshments. The cost is $50pp  We need a minimum of 10 people. Sun Aug. 20, Hit the Roof for a CUBS Game – Piccadilly has purchased tickets for CMSC's Roof Top Game in Wrigleyville. Game time is 1:20 pm. CUBS vs. Toronto Blue Jays.  $108 per person (transportation and parking NOT included) - A great view, unobstructed by the new video screens, all-inclusive food and drink, alcohol served through the 7th inning.  To purchase your tickets contact Vicki at the next ski club meeting or email vschutz@comcast.net
