Upcoming Piccadilly Events

Jan 20 –  Feb 24 Take & Bake Home Run Inn Pizza for Mon, Tue, Wed, 3/1, 3/2, 3/3

Long-time Piccadillians will recall that we held our twice-monthly meetings at Home Run Inn in Darien for many years.  Through this fundraiser, we can support a local business and also bolster our club’s bottom line, as we’ve been unable to do raffles and split-the-pots that normally contribute to our funds throughout the year. How does it work?  Use this link, personalized for our club

Piccadilly Ski Club • Take N Bake Fundraising- Pick Up (raisely.com)    to place your order by February 24

•   Place your order for a take-and-bake pizza  to be picked up on 3/1,              3/2 or 3/3.     30% of your order will automatically go to Piccadilly.

•   Pick up your order from the Darien location, 7521 Lemont Rd, on the            designated date & enjoy!

Thurs Jan 21, PSC  General Meeting We’re having our  2nd monthly meeting via Zoom. Whether we meet via Zoom or in person, this is a great way to stay in touch with your Piccadilly friends and find out what new activities are planned for the upcoming season. Get your favorite cocktail ready and log on prior to 7:30 pm. The link for Zoom will be sent out in email before the meeting.

Sat Jan 23, Winter in the Woods—Off Trail Adventure 11 am, Four Rivers Environmental and Education Center, 25055 West Walnut Street, Channahon, IL

Naturalist-led exploration of this unique area where the DuPage, Des Plaines and Kankakee Rivers join to form the Illinois River.  It’s known as a hotspot for viewing bald eagles and white pelicans.  One- to two-mile hike on paved and natural surfaces, some uneven terrain.  Dress for the weather!  At this time lavatories and the nature center are open, though there are capacity limits.  Masks are required.  Event is free, but you must sign up as the number of participants is limited—call 815-722-9470 or go to https://www.reconnectwithnature.org/news-events  to sign up.  Once you have secured your spot, please also sign up on Meetup so we know to look for you and can contact you with any updates.

Thurs Feb 4, PSC General Meeting  (Mardi Gras Theme) We’re having our general meeting via Zoom at  7:30 pm. Let’s get an early start on Mardi Gras and show up in your beads, boas, feathers and (dare I say it?) masks!  But you know, the Mardi Gras kind! An email will go out with the meeting URL and login information beforehand. We hope you will join us on Zoom.

Tues Feb 9, Online Happy Hour and Game Night  Join us from 7 – 8 pm  for a short happy hour and a bit of group fun.  We’ll spend some time gaming and some time socializing.  Have a pad of paper and pen/pencil ready for our games…

Three Strikes - One person will be selected to begin by sharing one true statement about him/herself.  An example:  “I heliskied in Chile.” Anyone for whom the statement is FALSE gets a strike.  You’re on your honor to keep your own score!  When you reach three strikes, you’re out of the game.           We’ll play until one person remains.  The strategy is to share facts about yourself that are unique enough that other players will not be able to say it is true for themselves—so you may want to do some advance planning!

Can You Hear Me Now?  One person will be chosen as the Describer and the other players will be Artists. The Describer must explain to the Artists how to draw an item (examples:  a sunflower, a kite) using only geometric terms.  (She will message the Describer with the item they have to describe, so you’ll want to be familiar with using the Chat feature in Zoom.)  We’ll play each round for three minutes. At the end of the round, the Describer gets one point for each Artist who guessed the object correctly, and each Artist who guesses correctly also gets one point.

Thurs Feb 18, PSC General Meeting  We’re having our meeting via Zoom at  7:30 pm. Do you know who is on the slate for this upcoming Piccadilly elections?  We hope you will join us on Zoom to find out who is running. An email will go out with the meeting URL and login information beforehand.

Thurs Mar 4, PSC General Meeting & Election Night  We’re having our meeting and board elections via Zoom at  7:30 pm. We hope you will join us on Zoom to find out who will be our new board members. An email will go out with the meeting URL and login information beforehand.

Sat Mar 6, Fullersburg Woods Hike and Lunch  11:00 am  Join us for a 1.5-2 mile hike along the Night Heron trail with gorgeous views of Salt Creek.  The trail is crushed limestone, but depending on the weather, it could be mushy or icy, so dress accordingly.  Meet at the Nature Education Center building.  If you’d like, pack a lunch and a camp chair—following our hike we can have a socially distanced lunch on the terrace overlooking the creek.  Restrooms are open.  The main entrance is at 3609 Spring Road, 0.8 miles south of 31st Street.  As always, please wear a face mask and practice social distancing.  Limit of 25 participants—please sign up on Meetup

Sat Mar 13, St Patty’s Celebration, 12:30 pm (Rain/Snow Date 3/20)

Order your corned beef & cabbage online at balleydoylepub.com (Downers Grove location), and then join us in Fishel Park (right behind Emmett’s Brewing Company) at 12:30 for a socially distanced lunch/St. Patty’s celebration.  Would be wise to bring your own camp chair.  Wearing of the Green encouraged!  Limit of 25 participants—please sign up on Meetup (and also check your messages the morning of 3/13 in case we have to switch to the rain/snow date of 3/20).
